Former world welterweight champion Shawn Porter has explained what Joseph Parker needs to do when he faces Deontay Wilder at "Day of Reckoning".
Parker is being billed as the underdog for this contest despite being the more active fighter.
But while Wilder may have been out of the ring for 14 months, he has the ultimate equaliser in the form of a devastating punching power which made the American one of the heavyweight division's feared names.
When speaking about the fight on The Porter Way Podcast, Porter believes that Parker needs to make an impression early if he is to enjoy any success against the former WBC world heavyweight champion.
“My game plan, if I was Joseph Parker, use your jab, use your feints, and try and land something early. You land something early and get back on your movement," Porter said.
"With Deontay being out of the ring as long as he has been – I talk about having fights in the gym but there is still that one element you can’t really simulate which is the energy and the moment of the fight.
“So if you’re Parker, use your jab, use feints, don’t allow Deontay to find his rhythm. It’s been too long. He’s going to have to find his range. If he lands something early he might have some success and this fight could go some rounds.”
