Boxing fans aren't getting the Errol Spence Jr.-Manny Pacquiao tilt that they hoped for, but Shawn Porter believes that the Pacquiao vs. Yordenis Ugas fight can still thrill Saturday night.
"I think this could be a more exciting fight than a lot of people expect if Yordenis Ugas can force Manny Pacquiao to go toe-to-toe with him," Porter offered via the Premier Boxing Champions YouTube account earlier in the week. "If we get a toe-to-toe battle, this could go either way."
That being said, Porter believes that Pacquiao will "control the fight from beginning to end" and that's why he's going with the boxing legend to defeat the WBA (Super) welterweight champ at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
"I do pick Manny Pacquiao to win this fight," Porter affirmed. "It's going to be a good fight. I don't think that Yordenis Ugas is going to get completely blown out but if he can't force Manny Pacquiao to fight, Manny is going to take this one 100 percent."
Still, having defeated Ugas in a controversial March 2019 split decision that many felt the Cuban did enough to win, Porter has concern over the 42-year-old Pacquiao.
"Let's speak to (Pacquiao's) age — can he maintain for 12 rounds?" Porter questioned during the same clip. "I think that could be the biggest component to this fight is if Manny Pacquiao can stay 80 to 90 percent over the course of 12 rounds."
