Sergio Mora told the DAZN Boxing Show that Amanda Serrano should target Katie Taylor

Former world champion Sergio Mora believes Amanda Serrano should focus on fighting Katie Taylor rather than collecting more belts at 126lbs.

The Puerto Rican comfortably defended her WBC and WBO belts on Sunday night against Yamileth Mercado on the Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley card as the co-main event.

With two belts in the division not in her hands, she has been linked with more unification fights, but Mora said on JABS as part of the DAZN Boxing Show that the money, and interest, is in facing Taylor.

Asked who she should be aiming for, Mora said: “Katie Taylor. I mean the choice is clear here. You have the chance to fight the P-for-P best fighter on the planet, and undisputed champion in Katie Taylor, or you can clean out another division.

“I think Amanda Serrano is one of the top three fighters in female sports. Okay, I think she's the best body puncher and she's fun to watch.”

However, he thinks that dominating at 126lbs is of limited interest to networks and will not do so much for her legacy.

“Whenever you're cleaning out divisions, picking up vacant titles, trying to chase the money in those big fights...” he began.

“I'm glad for Serrano finally getting the respect that she needs from being on the undercard of a Jake Paul fight because all eyes are going to be on her, and people are going to want to watch, and people that weren't boxing fans are going to want to watch.

“But in a big fight, they're not going to want to see you clean out divisions, picking up more titles against champions that aren’t marquee names, and especially vacant titles in other divisions.

“So give me the big fight. Give me Katie Taylor, you compare Katie Taylor's resume to Amanda Serrano and Claressa Shields;. It's night and day.”
