Akin Reyes and Barak Bess discussed Devin Haney’s performance to become undisputed lightweight champion.

The American travelled to Australia to defeat the then-unified champion George Kambosos Jr. to become the youngest-ever four belt undisputed champion.

Speaking on the DAZN Boxing Show, Reyes admired the controlled and accurate display that Haney put in to negate only home bias.

“You have to have a certain level of confidence and boxing ability ,which Devin Haney displayed this past Saturday,”he began. “I can’t not think about the jab, I haven’t seen someone display that level of execution with the most important punch in boxing in a very long time.

“I just want to congratulate Devin and his father. There’s gonna be a new pound-for-pound list.”

Bess agreed with the tactics employed by the eventual victor.

He said: “The jab was key to everything. It was a masterclass. When Keith Thurman took that 22-month hiatus, and said it was his get-back year, and when Manny Pacquiao came along, he took that opportunity.

“It’s the same with Devin Haney, the opportunity was just too great to become undisputed lightweight champion. The youngest in the four-belt era.

“He decided to box and not get touched, and I think that was brilliant.”
