Should Teofimo Lopez give up his IBF lightweight championship to pursue bigger fights after George Kambosos drama?DAZN
The Brooklyn boxer has been inactive since dethroning Vasiliy Lomachenko in 2020, and The DAZN Boxing Show discussed his recent frustrations.

Is vacating the IBF lightweight title an option for Teofimo Lopez? That was a focal discussion on the most recent episode of The DAZN Boxing Show as Triller’s cancellation of the already oft-postponed Lopez vs. George Kambosos fight center stage once again.

Kambosos has been mandatory for Lopez’s IBF strap since defeating Lee Selby last October, the same month Lopez upset Vasiliy Lomachenko to become world champion. Triller’s winning purse bid has seen the newcomers to boxing try and stage the fight on multiple occasions without any success. Ak, the co-host of The DAZN Boxing Show, has asked whether Lopez should move on from this fight.

“Let's be honest; I mean, he has another option here. He could always vacate the IBF title,” said Ak when addressing the situation. “I'm not saying that Kambosos doesn't deserve that fight, but there's been a lot of baggage since February since Triller won that bid.

“he's lost out on potential money because of fights that could’ve taken place. Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, or maybe even a Lomachenko or Tank Davis. There are so many guys out there or Josh Taylor. He had options.”

Teofimo Lopez also spoke to The DAZN Boxing Show earlier this year regarding a fight with Devin Haney.
