Gabriel Silva has been following in his father's footsteps and on Saturday he registered a brutal knockout at MF & DAZN: X Series 009.
Silva's father is Anderson Silva, the UFC superstar who owns the record for longest title reign in the MMA promotion's history. The younger Silva, 26, has been in combat sports for a few years himself, and on Saturday he faced Ben Davis in a boxing match.
It wasn't a very long boxing match, however.
With 10 seconds left in the opening round, Silva delivered a left hand that knocked Davis out. The finishing blow came moments after Silva had already knocked his overmatched opponent to the mat.
"I'm not gonna lie, I thought Ben was gonna be a little more prepared but I knew when I looked him in his eyes that he wasn't really there — he was there but he really wasn't there," Silva said immediately after the fight.
"He's strong and he could punch, but I was like, 'you know what? Let me just let this experience do the talking and just take it play by play.'"
