With former undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor still searching for an opponent for his first fight of 2024, a surprise name has been mentioned.
After losing his WBO world super lightweight title to Teofimo Lopez last year, there are a number of options Taylor could pursue.
One of these being a move up to welterweight which the Scotsman has frequently mentioned and now the manager of David Avanesyan, Neil Marsh, is eager to see his fighter take on Taylor.
“Hopefully we would love an eliminator or something," Marsh told Pro Boxing Fans.
“Why not Josh Taylor or something?
“He is highly ranked, but as always David will take any challenger on as long as it’s right.”
With Taylor and Avanesyan ranked third and fourth with WBC respectively, a fight between the two could make perfect sense if they want to have a shot at Terence Crawford, who currently holds the governing body's belt at 147lbs.
