Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia traded barbs on Mike Tyson’s Hot Boxin’ podcast.
Garcia was on the podcast with Tyson and actor Jeremy Piven as they discussed Garcia’s win over Luke Campbell at the weekend, when the 22-year-old Californian was dropped for the first time in his professional career.
Davis then called in to talk to Tyson, with the former world heavyweight boxing champion telling Tank that Garcia had been talking, “mad s— over here.”
Garcia followed that up by telling Davis that he would only need, “Two rounds, baby, two rounds. You’re going to sleep.”
The WBA lightweight and super featherweight champion then mocked Garcia for being sent to the canvas by Campbell, saying of Garcia that, “He got dropped by somebody that can’t even hit.
“If I would have hit him you know I would have killed him after that.”
Campbell was criticised for failing to build on his chance after knocking down Garcia, but the WBC interim champion believes that Davis wouldn’t have even got that far.
“Key words: Would have. IF.”
In a lightweight division overflowing with title contenders and talent, there has been speculation over just how many fights will take place in 2021 and in what permutations, but it now looks certain that Davis vs. Garcia will be one of them, without too much time to wait.
“I’m going to fight him. I’ll fight him next,” Davis told Tyson.
“It’s set in stone now, baby,” claimed Garcia.
