Amanda Serrano, seven-weight world champion
To become a world champion in just one weight class is an impressive feat, but becoming a world champion in seven weight divisions is something that comes once in a generation.
Amanda Serrano has done just that, and now this fight with Katie Taylor at MSG live on DAZN could have huge implications for her legacy.
Serrano's first world title success came on September 10th, 2011, when she stopped America's Kimberly Connor for the IBF women's super featherweight title. Serrano attempted to unify against WBC champion Frida Wallberg in April 2012, but this resulted in the first loss of Serrano's professional career.
The Puerto Rican's next world title shot didn't come for another two years. Serrano faced Maria Elenda Maderna for the WBO lightweight title and knocked the Argentine out in the sixth round to become a two-weight world champion.
Serrano then challenged for featherweight gold in February 2016 when she faced Olivia Gerula for WBO title and won with a first round stoppage.
A successful WBO featherweight title defence followed five months later against Calixta Silgado before beating Alexandra Lazar in October 2016 to win the vacant WBO women's super bantamweight title.
Now a world champion in four different weight classes, Serrano began 2017 with the first defence of her newly acquired WBO title with a points win against Yazmin Rivas before stopping Dahiana Santana in April 2017 for the vacant WBO women's bantamweight title and becoming a five-weight world champion.
After successfully defending her WBO super bantamweight title against Edina Kiss in July 2017, Serrano wouldn't challenge for world honours for another 14 months.
Yamila Esther Reynoso stood in the way of Serrano becoming a six-weight world champion and when the two met in September 2018 it was Serrano who made history, beating Reynoso on points to claim the vacant WBO female super lightweight title.
Serrano then became a seven-weight world champion after claiming the vacant WBO women's super flyweight title after stopping Eva Voraberger in round one the following January before a points win against Heather Hardy in September 2019 saw her retain the WBO women's featherweight title, and that's where Serrano has stayed.
Last year saw her make two defences of her WBO and WBC featherweight titles, Serrano was upgraded to 'full' champion after claiming the WBC interim belt from Hardy, with wins over Danielea Romina Bermudez and Yamileth Mercado in March and August, respectively.
Now she prepares to challenge for undisputed honours at lightweight against Katie Taylor on April 30th and if she does manage to beat Taylor, Serrano will cement her legacy as one of, if not the, the greatest women's fighter to grace the sport of boxing.
