Dillian Whyte’s disappointing performance against Tyson Fury in 2022 saw the Brixton fighter fail in his quest to become world champion after trying to secure a world title shot for several years.
Whyte was outclassed from the opening bell before Fury ended matters with a superb uppercut in the bout’s sixth session.
Whyte has since returned to action with a narrow points win over Jermaine Franklin at the backend of 2022, but one prominent fight figure won't let him forget the Fury performance.
Teddy Atlas, one of boxing’s best trainers and analysts, knows the heavyweight division inside out and he’s had his say on Whyte’s showing against Fury.
“You’re fighting a certain style, you’ve got to be ready for that style, it’s your responsibility,” said Atlas on a recent episode of The Fight.
“Fury has a certain style, he fights on the outside and looks to set you up with the jab. Dillian Whyte had no clue! It was a disgrace, really an embarrassment how unprepared he was.
“It was clear to everyone. It seemed like he had no idea how to deal with Fury and what he was going to do.”
