The WBO junior welterweight world champion is looking to add to his boxing legacy.

When it comes to adding to his boxing legacy, Teofimo Lopez is entertaining a serious idea — moving up to welterweight for his next fight.

Upon recently sitting down with ESPN's Mark Kriegel, Lopez, the current WBO junior welterweight world champion, wouldn't directly tackle rumors about fighting WBO 147-pound interim champ Brian Norman Jr. in September, but he did offer the following.

“Listen, I believe what really sounds swell is 'Teofimo Lopez, three-division world champion at 27 years young,'" Lopez said. "I'm all about that."

In coming off a unanimous decision over Steve Claggett last month, Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) believes his power would translate well from 140 pounds to welterweight.

“I believe I still always have the power,” Lopez continued. “I'm still maturing as time goes as far as power perceives.

"It's more so of IQ and EQ when you're in that ring. That's really where I am trying to progress myself to now and 147 is something that I plan on moving towards to probably even this next upcoming match."

A seventh-round TKO of Pedro Campa back in August 2022 was the last time Lopez recorded a knockout.
