Ever since he's moved up to welterweight, Terence Crawford has felt the cream of the crop has avoided him at all costs.
That won't be the case for at least one fight as the WBO champion puts his title on line against Shawn Porter on Nov. 20 in Las Vegas.
Porter has been one of the top welterweights in the last five years and didn't have much of an issue taking on the former undisputed junior welterweight champion and one of the sport's best fighters. If he puts on the performance he expects to have, Crawford thinks the point will be proven on why he feels Errol Spence Jr., Manny Pacquiao, Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia have avoided him.
“This fight is really going to show the caliber of fighter that I am and the skill set that I (have)," Crawford said on the Jamel Herring-Shakur Stevenson broadcast on Saturday. "They’re going to look at me and say, ‘Oh, this is the reason why certain fights haven’t manifested or come to fruition, because he’s that good.’”
Porter, a former two-time welterweight titlist, is expected to be the most formidable foe for Crawford in his stellar career. It's an assessment "Bud" agrees with wholeheartedly.
“On paper, it is my toughest test," Crawford admits. "Shawn Porter has been in the ring with all the champions and everybody in the welterweight division except Manny Pacquiao. This is a big fight, he does have a lot of experience. Shawn Porter has tremendous talent, skills, and he’s going to come to fight.”
