Terence Crawford says fighting this boxer is a 'lose-lose situation'DAZN

At 26-years-old, Jaron "Boots" Ennis stands 31-0 with 28 knockouts, equipped with a switch-hitting style and overall dazzling boxing skills.

The mandatory challenger for the IBF welterweight championship would seemingly present a mouthwatering matchup against the division's undisputed king Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs).

Though, "Bud" doesn't quite see it like that.

"Fighting 'Boots' is a lose-lose situation," Crawford began explaining on "The Breakfast Club" on Thursday. "I win, they're going to say 'oh, well, he was young, he wasn't ready.'

"'He was talented, he was skillful but you got the experience over him.'"

The 35-year-old pound-for-pound great added: "'You got so much over this kid that's never been tested before' because we've always seen him win with flying colors in a fashionable way to where we say 'he's cold and skillful' but he's never been in the ring with nobody to test him."

After creating boxing history by becoming the first man — and second overall boxer only to Claressa Shields — to win an undisputed championship in two different divisions, Crawford wants another big-money, legacy fight like the one he just had against Errol Spence Jr. on July 29.

"Me fighting 'Boots' would be like 'ok, well, you beat Boots.' It's not a mega fight," Crawford continued. "It's going to sell a little bit because of your name and what you just accomplished, but now what?

"I'm looking for big challenges."

That explains why Crawford has called for a crack at undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo. The 154-pound ruler is daring to be great September 30, when he moves up two weight classes to clash with undisputed super middleweight king Canelo Alvarez.

But Crawford is coveting a shot at Charlo's crown thereafter and a win there would make "Bud" the only boxer ever to reach undisputed glory in three different weight classes.
