Terence Crawford is one of this generation's best fighters.
The American cemented this status in August when he beat WBA light middleweight champion Israil Madrimov in a huge Los Angeles stadium event which saw him claim a world title in a fourth weight class.
At the age of 37, time is ticking for Crawford to land the bouts which fans want to see and set himself up financially for life after boxing, and while Saul "Canelo" Alvarez has been mentioned frequently as a possible opponent, there appears to be very little movement when it comes to negotiations to make this fantasy fight a reality.
However, it may not be a traditional boxer who Crawford could face next, there is now a chance he could face an MMA star in a crossover bout.
Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor is never afraid to challenge professional boxers and he recently revealed that he made an offer to face Crawford in a two-fight deal.
Crawford initially rejected McGregor's proposal, but now the Irishman has returned with the same proposal with a huge price tag attached in the comments of a DAZN Boxing Instagram post, and Crawford gave an intriguing response.
"Big respect to @tbudcrawford! $100million dollars a fight, 1 mma, 1 boxing. $200million dollars," McGregor wrote.
Crawford then responded simply with "@notoriousmma tempted".
If McGregor is able to strike a deal with Crawford, this will be the second time he has faced a professional boxer after being stopped by Floyd Mayweather in the tenth round of their fight in 2017.
It may not just be the boxing ring where McGregor could be making a long awaited return, a UFC comeback also appears to be on the horizon after confirming to DAZN during Anthony Joshua's loss to Daniel Dubois that he intends to fight in the Octagon at some point in 2025.
