Terence Crawford to target Jermell Charlo or Brian Castano if Errol Spence Jr. fight can't be made

Terence Crawford to target Jermell Charlo or Brian Castano if Errol Spence Jr. fight can't be madeDAZN
Terence Crawford is exploring other options outside of Errol Spence Jr.

The main priority for Terence Crawford is a fight with Errol Spence Jr. Despite the pair occupying lofty positions in the talent laden welterweight division, a showdown between the pair still appears to be way off. With no resolution looking likely, Crawford is ready to aim higher and target a fight at 154lbs against either Jermell Charlo or Brian Castano.

Crawford's plans for 2022 are still not finalised as he waits patiently to see what happens when Spence faces Yordenis Ugas in April. Britain’s Josh Taylor is another possibility for Crawford but that would mean the Edinburgh man moving up in weight. Charlo and Castano are set to meet in a rematch from their tasty encounter last year and it’s a fight Crawford will monitor.

“The fight fans gotta be the ones that push for it,” said Crawford when speaking to Behind the Gloves on a potential meeting with Spence.

“They gotta be the ones that demand it. I did my part. I’ve done my part by being professional by going through everybody they put in front of me. I don’t know what I can do any different.

“I want that fight. If it happens, it happens. I’ve been calling for it for years now. If it don’t, it don’t. “If I can’t get the Spence-Ugas winner, I’d love to get the Jermell and Castano winner. I can have that fight and be undisputed at 154.”
