In an era where shock fights are frequently announced, boxing was reported to be getting another one last week when it emerged that Chris Eubank Jr and Terence Crawford could be meeting later this year.
Although not as shocking as Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul, this intriguing bout is one that not many were expecting.
Conor Benn, also speculated to be competing in another staggering contest against Manny Pacquiao, is a boxer who knows Eubank well.
The pair were set to face each other in 2022 but it was called off at the last minute due to an adverse finding in Benn’s drug test.
The Essex welterweight has given his verdict on the rumours linking his old rival to Crawford.
“I think it will be a great fight, well, not a great fight, it will be a very one-sided fight, but I’d like to see the fight because I’d like to see Eubank get smashed to pieces,” said Benn when speaking to BoxingScene.
“I think everyone looks at Eubank because he’s easy work. After his last few performances, he hasn’t looked great at all. He’s definitely on a downhill trajectory.”
