Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov: WBA light middleweight champion explains own path to Canelo Alvarez fightDAZN
Madrimov outlines a lane.

Terence Crawford has made it clear if he defeats WBA light middleweight world champion Israil Madrimov this weekend, live on DAZN, that he'd like to move up another two weight classes and challenge Canelo Alvarez at 168 pounds.

So, if Madrimov pulls the upset over Crawford, would he be willing to do the same to clash with Alvarez? In a word, yes.

"We don't want to overlook anyone so we're fully concentrated on this one," Madrimov told Seconds Out through an interpreter, "but I wouldn't mind Canelo-Madrimov."

He also added to Fight Hub TV: "Right now, my focus is [Crawford] fight but after that we will see. If they're going to offer for me to fight Canelo, I'm willing to consider, I'm willing to do that because after this fight, the biggest fights are of my interest if I win."

And Madrimov has some familiarity with Alvarez, considering he helped Dmitry Bivol train to soundly defeat the boxing superstar by unanimous decision in May 2022.

"If the fight happens, then we'll start working on him in detail," Madrimov said, "and start figuring that out."

Alvarez has his own fight ahead as he'll defend his unified super middleweight crown against Edgar Berlanga on September 14, live on DAZN.
