In knocking Francis Ngannou out cold Friday in Saudi Arabia, Anthony Joshua pushed his win streak to four straight fights and raised the stakes for what's next.
The former two-time unified heavyweight champion of the world certainly has options moving forward. He already called out Tyson Fury in the aftermath of the victory over Ngannou and there are other options as well.
Here, DAZN takes a look at three possible opponents for Anthony Joshua.
Waiting out the winner of Tyson Fury-Oleksandr Usyk
Fury and Usyk will have their highly-anticipated undisputed heavyweight championship fight May 18, live on DAZN. Joshua can wait out the winner of the fight, but that would mean a period of inactivity if he does.
The fact that Fury and Usyk have a rematch clause could mean a more extended wait time as Fury told DAZN on Friday that a rematch would be in October, essentially wiping out the rest of this year for him.
Fury also told DAZN he'd welcome the chance to fight AJ after he's done with his two matchups with Usyk, who defeated Joshua twice in September 2021 and August 2022, respectively.
Filip Hrgovic
If Fury and Usyk wind up being entangled for a lengthy time, Joshua fighting Hrgovic could be an option — especially if it's in anticipation that the IBF title will be at stake.
Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) is coming off a first-round TKO of Mark de Mori in December, giving AJ the opportunity to put the first loss on the Croatian fighter's record with London being a probable backdrop.
Joseph Parker
Like Joshua, Parker has had a resurgence as of late. Since losing to Joe Joyce via 11th-round knockout in September 2022, Parker has pulled off five straight victories, including impressive wins over Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang.
The victory over Zhang on Friday had Parker winning by majority decision despite being dropped twice.
Joshua defeated Parker by unanimous decision back in March 2018. But Parker earning the WBO interim heavyweight title Friday could make a rematch intriguing for AJ.
