Oleksandr Usyk dropped Tyson Fury in the ninth round to power his way toward a split-decision victory and undisputed heavyweight championship crown Saturday night in Saudi Arabia.
In the immediate aftermath of the bout, Fury expressed the desire to activate his rematch clause.
Whether that fight indeed takes place next or not, there's no doubt that Usyk has several options.
Here, DAZN takes a look at three possible opponents for the new undisputed heavyweight king, Usyk.
Tyson Fury rematch
In the aftermath of having the split-decision go against him, Fury shared the desire to have a rematch with Usyk.
However, during the post-fight press conference, Fury expressed the desire to take some time to think about his next move.
While that leaves a potential rematch in the air — for now — it's evident that Usyk vs. Fury thrilled and that a sequel would be just as big, if not bigger if that's what the "Gypsy King" decides to do.
The winner of Deontay Wilder vs. Zhilei Zhang
Fireworks should ring off during the upcoming Wilder vs. Zhang collision and if the fight indeed turns out to be action-packed, it could serve up just the next opponent that Usyk needs in attempting to defend his undisputed heavyweight crown.
Both Wilder and Zhang stand taller than Usyk with knockout power that the Ukrainian will have to use his footwork and supreme technical boxing skills to outmatch.
A trilogy with Anthony Joshua
Yes, Usyk defeated Joshua in back-to-back fights — first scoring a unanimous decision win over AJ in September 2021 before a closer split-decision victory in August 2022.
However, Joshua has pieced together a four-fight winning streak since then in showing patience, savvy boxing ability and flashes of explosive, lights-out power.
Despite Usyk owning a 2-0 advantage in their rivalry, a trilogy should once again attract boxing fans' eyes by the masses.
For Joshua, a third fight would provide him the opportunity to finally figure out a way to beat his nemesis. For Usyk, the bout would present the global platform to once again assert his pure boxing brilliance, dominance and growing greatness.
