From a late replacement for an injured Keith Thurman to the newly-crowned unified WBO/WBC junior middleweight world champion.
That's what Sebastian Fundora managed to pull off Saturday night during an absolute bloodbath in which he delivered a split-decision victory over Tim Tszyu to leave Las Vegas with two world titles.
Just like that, "The Towering Inferno" — all 6’5½” of him — has plenty of options for his potential next fight.
Here, DAZN looks at some of Fundora's options.
Errol Spence Jr.
It was "The Truth" who re-emerged Saturday night, following his disastrous loss to Terence Crawford last July, to challenge Fundora.
And Fundora, face-to-face with Spence, seemed to like the idea of making the fight next.
Such a bout would allow Fundora the chance to land the biggest name on his ledger and as he said in the ring Saturday night: "He's one of the greats right now, he's one of the pound-for-pound, so if I can fight him and get a win off of him, it would be good history for me again."
No doubt about that, not to mention Fundora's biggest payday yet.
A Tim Tszyu rematch
Not to take away anything from Fundora's upset of Tszyu, but an accidental elbow during the second round opened up a bloody, nasty gash that impaired the Australian's vision for the remainder of the bout.
Now, Fundora did use his near 10 inches of reach advantage to pepper Tszyu with the jab and keep a measured, smart distance to leave Las Vegas with two 154-pound world titles.
However, Tszyu was taking it to Fundora prior to the elbow and cut and one has to wonder if the latter would have been able to pull off the victory if it wasn't for that gash.
What better way to resolve that than with a rematch? It'd be the fair and just thing to do.
Terence Crawford
Crawford immediately took issue with Spence confronting Fundora.
Perhaps, "Bud" will be able to step in between the two and force the Fundora fight for himself.
The consensus pound-for-pound best would present Fundora with his biggest bout to date, period.
