Gennadiy Golovkin returned to the ring this past weeked and beat Japan's Ryota Murata to unify the IBF and WBA world middleweight titles.
Despite a slow start where there were clear signs of ring rust, Golovkin slowly broke down his opponent before forcing a ninth-round stoppage.
But while fans were delighted to see GGG back doing what he does best, some are questioning whether he should face Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in a much-anticipated trilogy fight later this year if the Mexican gets past Dmitry Bivol on May 7 live on DAZN.
Former WBC world cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew is one of those who doesn't want a trilogy fight and believes all the signs were there for what could be an easy night's work for Canelo
"He looked vulnerable, he looked aged, he was being pushed back by a man who is not known as a severe puncher," Bellew said on The DAZN Boxing Show.
"Looking at it from GGG’s side and how he should be feeling, I wouldn’t be going anywhere near Canelo if I was him."
When it came to discussing how the trilogy fight could play out, Bellew heavily favours Canelo in what could be a brutal beatdown.
"It’s only going to end badly in my opinion, age waits for no man, that was clear to see.
"GGG in my opinion isn’t what he once was, I don’t want to see him get brutally beaten up by Canelo in a third fight because I think that’s what will happen."
