The former world champion has had his say on the debate.

Former WBC world cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has revealed who he believes is boxing's greatest ever cruiserweight.

Bellew is no stranger to competing at 200lbs and became a champion at the weight in 2016 when beat Ilunga Makabu at Goodison Park to claim the WBC title.

The Liverpudlian then attempted to become the undisputed cruiserweight champion two years later when he faced Oleksandr Usyk in Manchester, but Bellew came up short when he was stopped by Usyk in round eight of their contest.

Bellew decided to call time on his career after this defeat and after sharing the ring with the Ukrainian, he believes that Usyk is the greatest boxer to grace the cruiserweight division.

"That kid’s the greatest cruiserweight that’s ever lived," Bellew told The Matchroom Boxing Podcast

"There’s not a cruiserweight that would beat Oleksandr Usyk in the history of the sport, I don’t care who you are. Evander Holyfield, he would have figured him out and he wouldn’t have caught him.”

After conquering the cruiserweight division, Usyk is now looking to become a two-weight undisputed champion, but in order for him to do that, he needs to face WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and it looks like Usyk may finally get that chance with the pair set to meet in early 2024.
