Tony Bellew names the trainer he thinks would help Tyson Fury defeat Oleksandr Usyk

Fury faces Usyk next week.

Tony Bellew believes that Tyson Fury could be successful against Oleksandr Usyk if he had his old trainer in his corner.

Fury reached the top of the heavyweight division with his uncle Peter coaching him and Bellew believes the same man is capable of guiding him to glory against Usyk.

Fury and Usyk clash on May 18 in Saudi Arabia and the winner will take home all four heavyweight belts becoming undisputed champion.

Bellew knows what it takes to step into the ring with Usyk after losing to the Ukrainian in 2018, and he’s not sure Fury’s current style can work.

“The old version of Tyson Fury under Peter Fury has the best chance of defeating Usyk,” said Bellew when speaking to BoyleSports - who provide the latest boxing betting.

“Because that version of Fury got on his back foot and used his height and reach and his awkwardness to win fights. He'd have a far better chance.

“The version of Tyson Fury under Sugar Hill Steward right now is an attacking, ferocious counterpuncher who presses the fight. That isn't going to beat Usyk, pressing him is exactly what he wants. It will play into his hands all day.”
