Troy Williamson is hoping to make a statement against Ted Cheeseman on Saturday night.

Troy Williamson has his eyes set on becoming the number one British fighter at super-welterweight when he takes on Ted Cheeseman for the British title this coming Saturday.

After securing his shot following a sixth round stoppage win against Scotland's Kieran Smith, Williamson believes he is destined for the big stage.

Speaking to London News Online, Williamson said "I’ve been saying for years that I deserve the chance to be involved in these big fights.”

“I’ve told everyone that I’m good enough and this is my chance to prove it. I believe that I’m the best 154lbs fighter in the division."

Williamson was also quick to state that he is someone who never shys away from an oppurtunity and immediately took the offer to fight Cheeseman at the M&S Bank Arena.

"I’ve been offered some big fights in the past and I’ve accepted them all. It’s just unfortunate that some of them never happened for whatever reason. As soon as the Ted Cheeseman fight got mentioned I accepted it because he’s a warrior."

When it comes to predicting how the fight will play out, Williamson predicted his power will be crucial in securing the victory.

"You’re going to see the best of me on Saturday. The better the opponent, the better version of Troy Williamson you’ll see." Williamson claimed.

"I carry power in both hands. If I hit anyone on the chin at 11st in 10-ounce gloves I’m going to hurt them. If the stoppage comes it comes."

Cheeseman vs. Williamson for the British super-welterweight title is the chief support on a stacked card in Liverpool headlined by Liam Smith's clash with Anthony Fowler.
