Tyrone McKenna meets Ohara Davies for the MTK Super Lightweight Golden Contract on Wednesday 30 September.

The pair will meet at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, where years of rivalry will finally come to a head.

The pair courted controversy when they scuffled outside the ring in 2019, and both of them can now settle their differences in the ring now that they are due to fight for a deal with MTK.

McKenna (21-1-1, 6 KOs) has a reputation for putting on a show in his events and sometimes is criticised for fighting to entertain, rather than to win. The 30-year-old is keen to put that notion to bed now that a Golden Contract is on the line.

"Every time I fight I always have good support and I have to admit that I've always felt obliged to give my fans a tear-up. They've paid for hotels, flights and tickets so I always felt pressure to give them a war — I was fighting for the crowd, giving them entertainment in fights that I could have made a lot easier," said McKenna in the Belfast Telegraph.

"That's why I think I am going to shock people on Wednesday night with how well I can box. I'm not going to feel that pressure to entertain, it's all going to be about the game plan and executing it against Davies. I won't feel obliged to give the fans value for the money they've spent. This time they'll be at home or in the bars enjoying the fight."

Davies (21-2, 16 KOs) told Sky Sports that the time for talking was over after years of McKenna goading him.

“McKenna has been calling me out for years," Davies said.

"I've looked at him and thought: 'He isn't on my level' so I didn't respond. He kept calling me out. The rivalry is now a massive fight and, because we're in the final of The Golden Contract, I can't avoid him."

Davies knows that his opponent will be no pushover.

"I can't say I'm on a different level because he's proved himself."
