Tyson Fury in no rush to face Dillian Whyte, claims Frank WarrenDAZN
The WBC champion is waiting to decide his next move.

Tyson Fury’s co-promoter Frank Warren does not think that Tyson Fury will rush to take on Dillian Whyte.

The WBC champion was given 30 days to arrange an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk after he defeated Deontay Wilder at the start of October. Usyk is the new IBF, WBA and WBO belt holder but first has to deal with a 2022 rematch with Anthony Joshua before he can consider anything else.

As a result, the WBC is expected to declare Whyte the mandatory opponent for Fury, as the longstanding interim champion - save for a brief period when Alexander Povetkin claimed the title.

Whyte had been expected to fight Otto Wallin at the end of last month but a shoulder injury meant that clash was abandoned. While the Swede still hopes to contest the WBC interim belt with the British fighter, Whyte is keen to get a title shot of his own.

Warren is Fury’s co-promoter, and spoke to talkSPORT about Fury’s plans.

He said: “I don’t think anything will happen until the WBC has their convention, which is later this month and I don’t think that’s going to happen until then.

“There’s no rush and there’s no rush from Tyson’s perspective. As I’ve said to everybody, it doesn’t matter what anybody says. He will do what he wants to do.

“If the deal is right he’ll do it. If he doesn’t want to do it, he won’t do it. He’s his own man.”
