The purse bids for Tyson Fury's WBC world heavyweight title defence against Dillian Whyte have been postponed for a third time, they are now scheduled to take place on January 26th if the two parties cannot strike a deal.
The news was confirmed by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman on his official Twitter account.
The negotiations for Fury vs. Whyte have been chaotic to say the least.
First came Whyte taking legal action against the WBC for his never ending position as the number one contender late last year, as a result the WBC then refused to mandate the fight against Fury. However, following the governing body's annual convention, it was decided Fury would face Whyte in a mandatory defence, but with an 80-20 split in the WBC champion's favour following a request from Top Rank.
As expected this didn't go down well with the Whyte camp who are trying to get a bigger share of the fight purse.
Then came rumours that both Whyte and Anthony Joshua, who is set to face Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch this Spring, would step aside to let Fury face the Ukrainian in an undisputed title fight.
With purse bids orignally set to take place on January 21st, could this further postponement mean a deal between the Fury and Whyte camp is close?
