Roy Jones Jr’s verdict on the outcome of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk next year has slightly changed due to Fury’s most recent performance against Francis Ngannou.
Jones Jr, a former heavyweight world champion himself, always believed that Fury’s size would play a factor in deciding the fight, but he isn’t so certain now.
Last month, Fury was dropped by Ngannou before emerging from the contest with his unbeaten record intact following a controversial split decision verdict.
The manner of his win has brought intense scrutiny from the boxing world as it was Ngannou’s first bout and many figures within the sport, Jones Jr included, are reconsidering their outlook on Fury vs. Usyk.
“My prediction before that fight was that Tyson would win but it’s going to be a lot tougher now because of the fact of the last fight,” said Jones Jr when speaking to Betway.
“Tyson knew Francis Ngannou was a type of guy he wasn’t supposed to struggle with, but I have to go with Tyson Fury.”
