Tyson Fury's next opponent: Bookie's favourite won't be a popular choice with fansDAZN

Fans hoping for Tyson Fury to take on Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua may be disappointed if one of Britain’s bookmakers is correct.

Fury and Usyk’s teams and representatives for Joshua have had their back-and-forths over the past year, with no success in making either fight.

The two heavyweight champions may meet if rumours of a Saudi Arabia mega-event come to fruition, with Joshua fighting Deontay Wilder on the same evening, but for now neither of those clashes have been confirmed.

Joshua is linked with a fight with erstwhile opponent Dillian White, and now William Hill believe that Martin Bakole is in the frame to take on Fury.

The Scotland-based Congolese fighter is a capable heavyweight, but well down the rankings compared to the kind of names that could draw a huge audience.

Fury last fought in December last year, when he stopped Derek Chisora, and outside of a high-profile crossover fight with Francis Ngannou, hopes were high for a serious test for the Briton.

William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: “Tyson Fury is on the lookout for his next opponent following the end of the Chisora trilogy and we make Congolese heavyweight Martin Bakole the Evens favourite to take him on next.

“Usyk or Joshua would likely be the fans’ choice for Fury’s next fight but we don’t see them as likely options at 6/1 and 10/1 respectively. A fight with Agit Kabayel is not out of the question and we make him 4/1 to step into the ring with the Gypsy King next.”
