Vergil Ortiz is expecting an ‘angry’ Canelo when the Mexican star battles Gennadiy Golovkin for a third time on Saturday night.
As one of boxing’s best prospects, Ortiz is rising fast through the welterweight rankings, but with no fight scheduled for the time being, the Texan will take in this weekend’s blockbuster undisputed super middleweight contest.
Following outstanding clashes in 2017 and the following year, Canelo and Golovkin are yet to settle their rivalry.
A draw in their first meeting sparked huge controversy and Canelo’s win 12 months later irked the Kazakh puncher. Both fighters are promising fireworks heading into their showdown, and Ortiz believes the edge is with Canelo.
“Canelo’s gonna come back and I think he’s angry,” said Ortiz when speaking on The DAZN Boxing Show.
“Poor ‘GGG’ as Canelo already doesn't like him. Canelo is coming off a loss and he’s p—d off at everybody. People have stopped believing in him and he’s gonna want to give a reason to remind people of who he really is.”
