Devin Haney will be victorious in a potential meeting with Vasily Lomachenko, which is rumoured to take place in the first half of 2023.
That’s the verdict of Lou DiBella, who has first-hand experience of watching Haney up close after watching the young American become undisputed lightweight champion last year when defeating George Kambosos.
With 135lbs currently one of the hottest divisions in boxing, Haney’s potential battle with Lomachenko could go a long way to enhancing his legacy.
With a possible move to super-lightweight also on the horizon for Haney, DiBella is backing the Las Vegas based man to defeat Lomachenko before enjoying further successes up in weight.
“I personally think Devin Haney is too fast, too young, too long, too skilled for Loma, who in my mind is getting a little bit older, and I make Devin a pretty strong favourite to win the fight in my head,” said DiBella when speaking to Fighthype.
“I don’t see Devin staying at 135. So, after Devin beats Loma, I think the 135lb division is going to be wide open.”
