Josh Warrington has endured a torrid 13 months, troubled by an upset defeat and frustrated by his rematch with Mauricio Lara.
The first match-up back in Febuary ended in a surprise defeat for Warrington, who had just given up his IBF featherweight title. The defeat was put down to a year out of the ring as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but when the pair faced off for a second time in September, an early cut for the Mexican saw the fight ruled as a technical draw.
However he now has the chance to win back the IBF belt. He will take on Kiko Martinez for the second time. The first time was back in 2017, and Warrington won by split decision.
This time it is the Spaniard who is the champion, with his championship win coming against Kid Galahad last November. Defeat would likely spell the end of each fighter's peak, while a win would set them on course to attempt a unification fight.
