The fallout from George Kambosos’ shocking win over Teofimo Lopez continued on The DAZN Boxing Show as the sport continues to grasp the magnitude of last weekend’s result.
Lopez was heavily favoured to win the bout but his short reign at lightweight is over after the Australian underdog shook the division upside down with a split decision victory.
Attention has now switched to the next steps for both fighters with speculation mounting on what moves both Kambosos and Lopez can make.
The 135lbs division is awash with talented fighters so it seems logical that big fights are still on the horizon for both men. Barak, the co-host on The DAZN Boxing Show, says Kambosos deserves a homecoming in Australia.
“His next fight, when he’s defending all his titles, it needs to be in Australia,” said Barak.
“I don’t think anyone will complain about that. He’s probably going to be the A side because he has all the titles and he’s the lineal champion. I even think Vasiliy Lomachenko would travel to Australia for that fight.”
