Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will lock horns to determine who is the better man once and for all.
The question is when will the highly anticipated third fight take place? After Fury bulldozed Wilder in February to win by seventh-round TKO to capture the WBC heavyweight championship, the tentative plan had been for them to face off on July 18. But the COVID-19 rocked the entire sports world and the date ended up getting pushed back to Dec. 19.
The bout was delayed again as Fury's co-promoter, Bob Arum told ESPN that Fury-Wilder 3 will be moved because of football. No date was given as to when it will occur.
"We're moving off because there's five conference championship games that day and night, plus two NFL games," Arum said. "So we can't go with the 19th; we're looking at other dates right now because ESPN advised us, and Fox advised the PBC [which promotes Wilder]."
Fury and Wilder squared off in December 2018 and fought to a split draw in what ended up being one of the best fights of the year. The Brit outboxed Wilder for the majority of the contest. Heading into the 12th round, Fury had the lead on two judges' scorecards. But the "Bronze Bomber" showed why he has the ultimate equalizer, blasting Fury with a vicious two-punch combination to send him to the canvas. Fury looked to be out for the count but beat the count and made it through the end of the round.
Wilder and Fury took a pair of interim fights before meeting in the rematch in February. Fury dominated from their second meeting from the opening bell. He outboxed and overpowered Wilder, dropping him to the mat in the third and fifth rounds. It looked to be a matter of time before Fury put Wilder away. That occurred in the seventh round when Fury landed a barrage of shots. Not wanting their guy to continue to take unnecessary punishment, Wilder co-trainer Mark Breland threw in the towel.
What will happen when Fury and Wilder battle for the third and likely, final time?

The bout had been tentatively scheduled for Dec. 19, but Fury's co-promoter, Bob Arum, says that date no longer works because of the slate of college football championship games on that day. A new date is in the works.
