Undisputed glory for Baumgardner in New York; February 4, 2023
After beating Mikaela Mayer, there was just one more belt Alycia Baumgardner needed to become the undisputed champion and that was the vacant WBA title.
Standing in her way was Elhem Mekhaled and just like her fights with Terri Harper and Mikaela Mayer, Baumgardner showcased her aggressive fighting style with two knockdowns in the third.
There was a late resurgence from Mekhaled who appeared to stun Baumgardner, but this was not enough to sway the judges' scorecards in her favour with Baumgardner declared the winner via unanimous decision and as a result the new undisputed champion at super featherweight.
