Gilberto Ramirez finally gets his shot at a light heavyweight world title when he takes on WBA champion Dmitry Bivol on Saturday night live on DAZN.
Ramirez is seen by some as an avoided name at 175lbs. Since making the move up from super middleweight in 2019, Ramirez has either knocked out or stopped four of his five opponents at light heavyweight, cementing himself as a genuine contender in the division.
But Bivol will be no easy foe. The reigning WBA light heavyweight champion will be full of confidence after beating Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in what was a dominant performance, and now has sights set on an undisputed showdown against WBC, WBO and IBF champion Artur Beterbiev.
Both Bivol and Ramirez will not be afraid to go toe-to-toe. Therefore fans should be in for the treat come the first bell at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Ramirez wins first world title against Abraham; April 9, 2016
Gilberto Ramirez made history on this night by becoming the WBO world super middleweight champion and the first Mexican fighter to do so.
Ramirez produced a shut-out performance against Arthur Abraham in Las Vegas. The Mexican used his size advantage and superior movement to nullify any threat Abraham posed.

Ramirez overcomes Jesse Hart in action packed super middleweight battle; September 22, 2017
The Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona was the venue for what turned out to be a thrilling super middleweight title fight.
Gilberto Ramirez was making the third defence of his WBO title against Jesse Hart and while the American challenger got off to a good start, he was knocked down in the second by Ramirez.
This set the tone for the rest of the fight, Ramirez continued to unload on Hart, hitting him with numerous power shots, but the American was showing no signs of giving up.
Come the final bell, Ramirez was awarded a unanimous decision with two judges scoring the fight 115-112 and the third producing a 114-113 score.
The close nature of the first contest warranted a rematch which came in December 2018. Ramirez would triumph once again, but this time on a majority decision with two judges scoring the second fight 115-113 and the other scoring the contest a draw.
Ramirez knocks out Sullivan Barrera; July 9, 2021

Following his victory, there was only one name on Ramirez's mind and that was WBA champion Dmitry Bivol, and now 16 months after first calling out the 31-year-old, Ramirez will finally get his chance to face Bivol on Saturday night.
