After a near six-year absence from boxing, Lepage-Joanisse returned to the ring in March 2023 and produced three consecutive wins in less than six months to earn a shot at then-WBC heavyweight world champion Abril Argentina Vidal this past March.
The hard-fought bout ended with judges at Montreal Casino in Montreal, Canada giving Lepage-Joanisse the split-decision victory to crown her the new WBC titleholder.
Against Shields, she'll aim for her first successful title defense.
