KSI returns to action on Saturday night in the main event of MF & DAZN: X Series 007 when he takes on Joe Fournier at the sold out OVO Arena Wembley in London for what should be another memorable night of crossover boxing.
I personally cannot wait to be back ringside and be right in the thick of an electric atmosphere. Fans are there from the opening bout of the evening and build up to KSI’s ringwalk which often feels like a Canelo or ‘Tank’ Davis fight.
Now let’s briefly focus on KSI’s opponent on Saturday night, Joe Fournier. Besides Logan Paul, Fournier will be KSI’s second toughest opponent, but will he be a tough opponent? That I do not know.
Fournier has a good record, 9-0 with all nine wins coming by way of knockout, but look at the competition he’s faced. Their records are abysmal and while Fournier has the experience, that experience has come against mop buckets.
There is no doubt he has the skills to operate inside a boxing ring, no matter who Fournier is in there with and how bad they are, a fight is a fight. I don’t expect him to be overwhelmed by the moment of facing KSI, the billionaire is always in the limelight.
Many will expect KSI to try and blow Fournier away like he has done with his last few opponents, but Fournier will be smart as he looks to pick his shots and move. He has the ability to frustrate KSI, and maybe KSI tires himself out in the earlier rounds which allows Fournier to take control and potentially pull off a huge upset.
As a result of Fournier’s ability, KSI will need to elevate his game, fight a little smarter. In his last fight against FaZe Temper, KSI could afford to step into the ring and brawl; he cannot adopt a similar strategy.
On Saturday night, we will see how skilled KSI is, this will not be a ‘go beat up this guy type of fight’, he will have to go about it the right way if he is to win in the English capital.
