Maxi Hughes' future was discussed on DAZN’s Beyond the Bell after his win over Kid Galahad.
Hughes successfully retained his IBO lightweight belt on a majority points’ decision after Galahad was docked a point for use of the head.
The 32-year-old has been mentioned as a potential title contender in recent months and with Devin Haney set to fight George Kambosos in Australia next month for all four belts, there could be a path forward for the belts to break up again and be contested in a number of fights.
Mike Costello said: “It’s difficult to see what's next. Next month there’s going to be another undisputed fight between Devin Haney and George Kambosos in Australia - the rematch from their fight earlier this year.”
He continued: “I think it’s almost certain that after that these belts will break up again and all sorts of opportunities could appear then.
"He’s already ranked with the IBF, I think after tonight with other governing bodies, and therefore he might be seen by one of the champions, whoever that is, as a comfortable defence.”
