William Zepeda 'confirms' world title fight for 2025 against American star

William Zepeda 'confirms' world title fight for 2025 against American starGolden Boy
The Mexican gave an insight into his future plans when speaking to DAZN.

Mexican lightweight William Zepeda has been very active in 2024.

He kicked off his year with a stoppage in against Maxi Hughes in March before producing a third round knockout against Giovanni Cabrera four months later.

Zepeda is now preparing for his third fight in 2024 on the undercard of Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez vs. Chris Billam-Smith in Riyadh on November 16.

Broadcast live on DAZN, Zepeda will be facing former IBF super featherweight champion Tevin Farmer, and while Farmer is a credible opponent, there are some who believe Zepeda should now be challening for a world title at 135lbs.

This expectation can often lead to frustration inside a fighter's camp, but for Zepeda, he is confident he will finally get that opporunity at world title glory sooner rather than later.

"It’s not frustrating, but I am anxious for the opportunity to come my way," Zepeda told DAZN

"I think we have earned every single bit of this, and the opportunity is going to come soon."

When it comes to who Zepeda will be facing in a world title fight, as long as he gets past Farmer, WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson is set to be the opponent after confirming in a number of posts on X.

However, if Stevenson picks up an injury, Zepeda is hoping his world title aspirations can be kept alive and face another champion at lightweight.

"It’s already been confirmed that in the beginning of the trimester in 2025, that fight should be made," Zepeda continued.

"If it’s not him, it’s going to be another world champion."
