Filip Hrgovic is aiming at an eliminator for a world title and his promoter has identified the man they want the Croatian to face next.
Hrgovic, identified as one of the heavyweight division's best hopes, impressed again on Saturday night as he scored a third-round stoppage against Emir Ahmatovic.
Hrgovic is currently just outside the top spots at heavyweight and is competing with a number of prospects such as Daniel Dubois and Tony Yoka.
Nisse Sauerland, the man guiding Hrgovic’s career, wants his man to face Zhilei Zhang in 2022 and he says the fight should be a final eliminator for a world belt.
“That was another great performance from Filip,” said Sauerland to BoxingScene.
“Credit to Ahmatovic, he came to fight, but ultimately, he was outclassed. The search is now on for an opponent to face Filip in an IBF world title final eliminator early next year. Zhilei Zhang’s name has been mentioned.
"That is a fight we like and one we would be confident of winning.”
