Late last month, Ryan Garcia took to his Instagram account and posted a shot of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and himself sitting courtside together at a Las Vegas Aces' WNBA game.

The shot turned heads for a couple of reasons. For starters, Mayweather is affiliated with Gervonta Davis, who just defeated Garcia back in April. Also, Golden Boy Promotions still touts Garcia as one of its fighters.

So what was their meet up about?

A few weeks later, Mayweather is offering an explanation.

"We talked about life and family and really about social media. That's what we really talked about," Mayweather told FightHype.com, adding that a friend of his gave a free Aces ticket to Garcia. "We were talking about how much money you could make off of social media these days."

About Garcia's boxing future, Mayweather added: "I'm not looking to sign Ryan, but if he wants to sign and he's free, I'll sign him.

"But if I'm not mistaken, he's under contract. You always have to make sure things are worded right before you get a lawsuit or before you get a letter from a boxer's promoter."

He tacked on for good measure: "To hypothetically say, if Ryan Garcia gets free, will Ryan Garcia be with Mayweather Promotions or PBC? Absolutely. Only if he's free. Who don't want to work with the best? Nobody is more knowledgeable about the sport of boxing than me."
