Chinese star will face Deontay Wilder next month.

Zhilei Zhang has revealed why he believes he suffered defeat to Joseph Parker in his last fight and vowed not to make the same mistakes when he takes on Deontay Wilder next month.

The Chinese fighter lost by decision to Parker as part of the undercard to Anthony Joshua's showdown with Francis Ngannou back in March, which was only the second defeat of his career.

Talking exclusively to DAZN courtesy of Free Bets, Zhang confessed he went into the fight underestimating his opponent and was the reason he didn't get the job done.

"In my opinion, I was too relaxed, and I was too overconfident going into that fight," he admitted.

"You saw that I danced in my corner when I dropped him in the third round. I was way too relaxed."

Next up for Zhang is a showdown with Wilder as part of the Queensbury vs. Matchroom 5 vs. 5 event in Saudi Arabia next month, and the 41-year-old is determined not to lose focus on beating the American.

Adding: "I’m purely focused on Wilder, he’s a dangerous guy. I can’t make the same mistakes I made last time (against Parker). Wilder is top of my list and I’m only thinking about him."
