Zhilei Zhang claims punching power would be a 'disaster' for current world championDAZN
The Chinese heavyweight is on the brink of a world title shot.

Zhilei Zhang is confident that his punch power would be a serious problem if he gets the chance to face current WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

The Chinese heavyweight is now the mandatory challenger for the WBO world heavyweight title held by Oleksandr Usyk following back-to-back wins over Joe Joyce. However, Zhang will have to wait a little while longer for a chance at glory with Fury and Usyk set to meet on February 17 for the undisputed world heavyweight title.

This delay has not stopped Zhang discussing his chances of beating Fury, and after seeing the British fighter down on the canvas multiple times during his career, most recently against Francis Ngannou in October, he believes that his power could be too much for the world's number one heavyweight.

“If you look at his career, he’s got hit, he’s got dropped, and my punches are not a joke," Zhang told the Town Bizznizz sports and ent YouTube channel.

“When my punches land, it’s going to be a disaster for him.”

Zhang has also expressed an interest in facing former world heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder, but even a potential matchup with either man in the near future is unlikely with Joshua and Wilder preparing for fights on the December 23 "Day of Reckoning" card in Saudi Arabia.
