Former super-middleweight champion and current light heavyweight contender Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramírez continues the journey toward a title shot will make his 2022 debut as he faces former WBA Interim light heavyweight titleholder, Dominic Boesel, on Saturday, May 14, from the Toyota Arena in Ontario, CA, and will stream live exclusively on DAZN. A victory will propel the winner closer to a world championship fight.
After spectacular back-to-back knockout victories over Sullivan Barrera in July and Yunieski Gonzalez in December, Ramirez (43-0, 29 KOs) knows he is knocking on the door to getting the opportunity to become a two-division champion.
"I'm excited to be fighting back in California," Ramírez said in a press release. "May 14 is not too far away, and I feel great about how everything is going. I know Dominic is the best light heavyweight from Germany, and he'll bring his best. This is a good step towards my overall goal, and I'm glad I'll be able to put on a great show come fight night."
Boesel (32-2, 12 KOs) formerly held the WBA belt in 2020. The German fighter is set to make his U.S. debut versus Ramirez. He is determined to make a good showing and hand Ramirez the first defeat of his career.
"I'm looking forward to going to California for a great fight against a tough opponent in 'Zurdo' Ramirez," Boesel said. "I'm sure this fight will please the boxing fans worldwide watching live on DAZN."
