Buakaw Banchamek is one of the biggest names in Muay Thai.

Sombat Banchamek, who also goes by Buakaw Banchamek, is one of the finest Muay Thai fighters in the world, and the Thai fighter has a string of titles to his name.

He is a former two-time Omnoi Stadium champion, Lumpinee Stadium Toyota Marathon champion, former No. 1-ranked fighter in Lumpinee Stadium, Thailand featherweight champion, two-time K-1 World MAX champion and 2011 & 2012 Thai Fight tournament champion.

Buakaw is seenas one of the best Muay Thai fighters of all time.

Outside his Muay Thai career, Buakaw also surprisingly played professional football as a forward in the Regional League Division 2 for RBAC F.C. As well as that he has starred in two films: Yamada: The Samurai of Ayothaya and 2017's Thong Dee Fun Khao.

Buakaw began his fighting career at the age of eight in his home region of Surin in the northeastern Thailand. He then moved to Chachoengsao aged 15 and trained with the Por. Pramuk Gym.

Buakaw has added a number of championships to his name fighting in Bangkok. The Omnoi Stadium featherweight strap was his first belt. After that, he went on to take the featherweight champion of Thailand title. Buakaw then went on to win a second Omnoi Stadium title belt, this time around as a lightweight.

In December 2002, Buakaw claimed the Toyota Marathon 140 lb. tournament at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, defeating the dangerous Satoshi Kobayashi of Japan in the finals.
