The Professional Fighters League 2024 season is set to end on Nov. 29 when it hosts six global world championship bouts from Saudi Arabia.
The card signals the end of the global season, which saw the return of Brendan Loughnane, the debut of Dakota Ditcheva, and many amazing finishes and fights. But there's three reasons in particular we think even casual fans should tune in for the event.
1. Can Impa Kasanganay or Brendan Loughnane repeat history?
There are two previous PFL champions competing in the 2024 season finals, light heavyweight Impa Kasanganay and featherweight Brendan Loughnane. Kasanganay won the 205-pound title in 2023 and looks to win back-to-back championships with a victory on Friday. Loughnane will be looking to get his second title after being crowned the 2022 champion. He missed out on the finals in 2023 and this is a bit of a redemption tour for Loughnane.
2. Dakota Ditcheva is finally put to the test
Many fans and critics have been high on Dakota Ditcheva but some have wondered if she's really as good as PFL wants us to think she is. Up until her PFL Finals match-up her opponent level has been criticized. She's defeated everyone and fairly easily but Ditcheva will be facing her toughest test to date when she fights former UFC fighter Taila Santos. If she can defeat Santos, she'll prove all the doubters wrong and solidify herself as one of the best female fighters right now.
3. Will a new MENA star be born?
In addition to the six global championship fights, the MENA finals will also take place. There are four title fights under the MENA banner. We could potentially see a future star being born when a new champion is crowned. We saw this when Ditcheva won the European title and was then brought over to the global season. Perhaps we'll see someone from the MENA fights thrust themselves into the 2025 global season. The undexpected is what makes this all so exciting.
