The 24-3 fighter had been due to defend his crown this December, but will now be forced to miss the bout.

UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad has withdrawn from his UFC 310 title fight in December with Shavkat Rakhmonov due to injury.

The 24-3 fighter had been due to defend his title against his unbeaten rival at the event, set to be held on December 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

But Muhammad confirmed he would miss the bout on Thursday after revealing he had caught a "bone infection" in his foot that leaves him unable to make the bout.

The fighter announced the news himself on social media, posting on X with a video that showed him in a hospital bed recovering from the injury.

Muhammad had hoped to make a defence of the crown he claimed at UFC 304 against Leon Edwards back in July, and it is unknown if Rakhmonov will remain on the card.

Alex Pereira has been touted as a potential replacement, but the date may come too soon for the experienced Brazilian, who defeated Khalil Rountree at UFC 307 in October.
