Bellator has a new welterweight champion.

Bellator hosted a fight card from Dublin, Ireland on June 22 with a big welterweight fight topping the card. Reigning champion Jason Jackson looked to defend his title against a dangerous undefeated prospect in Ramazan Kuramagomedov.

After three dominant first rounds and then two lackluster championship rounds, Kuramagomedov earned the unanimous victory on the scorecards.

"I can't even describe how I feel right now," he said in the cage after the fight. He went on to praise Jackson and said he felt bad he had to lose this fight. "In my opinion, I was prepared for the best welterweight in the world, in my opinion, he was the best welterweight in the world."

Jackson initially won the title in 2023 when he defeated Yaroslav Amosov at Bellator 301, he then took a detour to appear on the PFL vs. Bellator card where he fought Ray Cooper III in a catchweight fight for the "PFL Champion vs. Bellator Champion Super Belt, which he won via a second-round TKO. He was making his first defense of the title.

Kuramagomedov hasn't lost a single fight in his professional career and was coming off back-to-back finishes. He hadn't competed since November 2023 when he submitted Randall Wallace via a second-round rear-naked choke at Bellator 301, the very same card Jackson won his title on.
