Bellator hosted a fight card from Paris, France on Friday, which was headlined by Bellator bantamweight champion Patchy Mix, who took on a top contender in Magomed Magomedov.
The fight went five incredibly close rounds with the judges split at the end of fight rounds. One judge awarded the fight to Magomedov while two others gave it to Mix. The Paris crowd didn't seem to appreciate the results, booing Mix throughout his post-fight speech.
"I think he just came prepared," Mix said in the cage after the fight. "It was a high-level fight."
The pair met once before during the Bellator Bantamweight Grand Prix where Mix submitted Magomedov with a second-round guillotine choke. Mix won his title as the Grand Prix champion after defeating then-interim champion Raufeon Stots. He defended and unified the title by beating Sergio Pettis who had returned from a long injury layoff. Magomedov bounced back from the Mix loss with a submission win over rising star Danny Sabatello last year.
In the co-main event, French star Cedric Doumbe bounced back after a controversial loss in his last fight with a win over Jaleel Willis in the very first round. He then called out Anthony Pettis who entered the cage and the two agreed to fight.
